Mental skills we train together

Sport psychology is not only for fixing something after it goes wrong. These skills are easier to build before the pressure arrives.

  • Pre-competition anxiety & nerves
  • Focus & concentration under pressure
  • Self-confidence & identity as an athlete
  • Fear of re-injury after recovery
  • Negative self-talk & perfectionism
  • Mental routines & pre-game preparation
  • Burnout, motivation & loss of enjoyment

Competitive athletes

Preparation routines, composure on competition day, responding to setbacks and slumps.

Recreational athletes

Enjoy your sport again, stop overthinking, and perform closer to how you train.

Active adults

Consistency, motivation on low-energy days, and performance habits that survive a busy week.

Do any of these sound familiar?

Free Throw With the Game on the Line

Tiro libre con el partido en juego

The crowd goes silent. Your hands feel different. Mental training gives you a pre-shot routine that makes this moment feel like practice.

Penalty Kick or Hockey Shot

Penal en futbol o hockey

One shot. One chance. Your mind starts remembering past misses. Athletes who score consistently have a mental protocol — not luck.

Un tiro. Una oportunidad. Tu mente recuerda fallos pasados.

Competing Against Your Biggest Rival

Competir contra tu rival más grande

The mental battle starts before you step on the mat. Sports psychology gives you tools to compete against the idea of them — not the fear of them.

Finding Your Flow State

Encontrar tu Flow State

When everything clicks, time slows down, your body moves without thinking. That's Flow. I help athletes trigger it deliberately — not by accident.

Pre-Competition Anxiety

Ansiedad antes de competir

Butterflies. Restless sleep. Overthinking. This isn't weakness — it's energy your body is preparing. The question is: are you directing it?

Mariposas.

Mental-Emotional Connection

Conexión mental y emocional

Elite performance requires knowing what you feel, why you feel it, and how to use it as fuel — not noise.

What a conventional personal trainer usually leaves out

Most training plans only cover the physical side. But what decides the outcome is often mental: whether you can settle your nerves, hold your focus, keep going after a bad week, or trust your preparation when it counts. Coaching both sides together is the difference here — the physical plan and the mental skills are built in the same system.

Common questions

Do I need to be a competitive athlete to work on the mental side?

No. Competitive athletes, recreational athletes and active adults all use the same mental skills — confidence, focus, handling pressure, staying consistent when motivation dips.

Is this therapy or a clinical service?

No. This is performance coaching: practical mental skills training for sport, training and everyday performance. It is not therapy, diagnosis or treatment.

Do you work in person in Ottawa?

Yes. Sessions happen in person in Ottawa or online, and coaching is available in English, French and Spanish.

Do I have to wait until something goes wrong?

No. Mental skills are easier to build before pressure arrives. Many people start while things are going fine, so the routine is already in place on the day that matters.

How is this different from a regular personal trainer?

A conventional trainer writes the physical plan. Here the mental side is coached alongside it — preparation routines, focus cues, how you respond to setbacks and how you keep showing up.
